Abstract A prospective questionnaire-based study that was done on 104 freshly diagnosed breast cancer patients before starting treatment. We aimed to assess the changes in social support and quality of life, and compare them before and after treatment. In addition to correlating these findings with the baseline characteristics of the disease. We used the 6 item MOSS questionnaire to assess social support and FACT-B validated Arabic form to assess quality of life.We found that social support improved significantly after treatment (with p value <0.001), while quality of life showed numerical deterioration. Education turned to be a main factor impacting social support and quality of life. Which proves by evidence that the Egyptian culture is a supportive culture and that will add to factors improving breast cancer outcome in Egypt |
