Abstract Background: Hyperbilirubinemia is one of the most common problems that may occur in babies , so early prediction of hyperbilirubinemia will help in early discharge and prevent hospitalization of babies for a longer period. Our study is a prospective study that included 101 full term neonates ,59 males and 42 females with estimation of cord alkaline phosphatase (AP) as a predictor for neonatal hyperbilirubinemia and follow up by serum bilirubin for all cases. We found cord AP cut off point = 314.5 u/l has a predictive value fornewborns with indirect hyperbilirubinemia requiring treatment |
