Abstract The study deals with the preparation and characterization of pdyoxyethylenated cholesterol using three different catalysts. The prepared nonionics were employed in two different applications. In the first application, the prepared oxyethylenated cholesterol nonionics, were used as stationary phases in gas liquid chromatography (GLC) for the analyses of liquid hydrocarbon types, alcohols, ethers, ketones, aldehydes, amines and chlorinated solvents. In the second application, the prepared nonionics were used as stationary phases in Inverse Gas chromatography (IGC) technique to measure dissolution affinities between hydrocarbon type solutes and the different hydrophilic head groups. from the measured retention data, the thermodynamic characteristics of dissolution of C6 and C7 aliphatic, alicyclic and aromatic hydrocarbon solutes, were calculated |
