Abstract Postoperative arrhythmias are a major cause of morbidity after cardiac surgery for congenital heart disease. We studied the incidence and possible risk factors of early postoperative arrhythmias in 100 consecutive patients underwent cardiac surgery in Post-operative Pediatric Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit during 6 months. All patients had continuous ECG monitoring in the ICU. Twenty patients (20%) had early postoperative arrhythmias. The commonest was junctional ectopic tachycardia (15 patients). Most of arrhythmias occurred after Fallot tetralogy and Ventricular septal defect repair. Arrhythmias were more common after prolonged cardiopulmonary bypass and ischemic times |
