Abstract Objective: The current study is designed to assess the relation between the duration of fetal extraction during cesarean section and apgar score. Study design: Four hundred pregnant women were included in the study fulfilling the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Time from initiation of anesthesia till clamping of the cord and time from incision of the uterus till clamping of the cord were recorded. Apgar score at 1 and at 5 minutes, respiratory rate and weight of neonate were reported by the pediatrician, and the occurrence of transient tachypnea of newborn (TTN) among the studied neonates. Results: No correlation between the duration of fetal extraction and apgar score recorded at 5 minutes.
