Abstract

A series of spinel ferrites with the general formula Mg₁-xMexFe₂O₄ were prepared by using the citrate auto combustion technique. The prepared samples were classified into three groups. The first group Ni²⁺ ions were substituted at the expanse of magnesium (Mg³⁺) ions according to the chemical formula Mg₁-xNixFe₂O₄, where (0.0 {u2264} x {u2264}1.0). While the second group deals with cations with small (Co²⁺, Ca²⁺, Cu²⁺) and large ionic radii (Ba²⁺, Sr²⁺) according to the formula Mg₀.₇Me₀.₃Fe₂O₄. The selection of the dopant metals is based on several criteria as their ionic radii, number of unpaired electrons and higher magnetic properties. In the third group an attempt was made to study the physical properties of Cr³⁺ and Al³⁺ substituted Mg ferrite nanoparticles. At the same time the structure of the investigated samples will not be electrically neutral, so the nonstoichiometry and non electroneutrality are discussed
