Abstract
Egypt is the country with the largest HCV epidemic in the world which creates a major health burden. Patients with chronic hepatitis treated with antiviral therapy experience a response superior to that of therapies used in the past. However, side effects, especially hematologic abnormalities, may decrease both therapeutic adherence and the therapeutic success rate. DAAs, with high SVR and very little hematological adverse effects, have been shown to improve thrombocytopenia associated with HCV infection as well as advanced hepatic disease
