Abstract

Background: A new approach for antimicrobial agent
to overcome the antibiotic resistance became the point of
interest in dentistry as the occurrence and development of
oral diseases. Recently, the clinical and in vitro antibacterial
effect of human platelets concentrate (PCs) has been
reported against different species of bacteria. Objectives:
This study aims to estimate the effects of low level laser
therapy on platelets rich plasma (PRP) and leukocytes
against S. aureus and E. faecalis .Methodology: S. aureus
and E. faecalis were treated with different platelets
concentrates which were previously irradiated with 980 nm
diode laser of 1.5 j/cm2
energy density. Results: PRP has a
significant antibacterial activity and might be a good
additive for antibiotic susceptibility. As a novel impact,
activated and non-activated PCs antimicrobial properties
significantly affected by low level laser treatment.
Conclusion: irradiation of PRP by low level laser therapy
attenuate its antimicrobial properties against treated Gram-positive pathogen
