Abstract The current study aimed at investigating the impact of students partnership in program design on improving oral communication skills of engineering students and examining students’ attitudes towards partnership in program design. The current study adopted the mixed methods research multistage evaluation design. A group of 12 Egyptian engineering sophomores (one intact class) participated in designing an oral communication skills program and studied it afterwards. The study employed five instruments: Engineering Oral Communication Professional Functions Questionnaire, Oral Communication Skills for Engineering Students Questionnaire, Pre-post Oral Communication Skills Test for Engineering Students, Attitudes Semi-structured Interview Guide, and Instructor’s Reflective Log. The findings indicated a significant improvement in engineering students’ oral communication skills. The study also affirmed the positive attitudes of engineering students towards partnership in program design in addition to the positive correlation between students’ oral communication skills and their attitudes towards partnership in program design. A set of recommendations and suggestions for further research were presented as well. |
