Abstract Today Natural Gas Liquids have become very valuable because of the growing international demand and their use as a petrochemical feed stock. In Egypt, a lot of gas reserves have been discovered but these discoveries suffer from shortage of NGLs extraction projects which leads to inability to fulfill the wide demand for NGL feed stocks. This work studies the ability to retrofit an existing LPG plant to improve the NGL extraction and produce pure ethane as a new product, this is done by steady state modeling of the plant using ASPEN HYSYS software. Ortloff{u2019}s Gas Subcooled Process (GSP) and Ortloff{u2019}s Residue Split Vapor (RSV) are a cryogenic gas processing technologies were used within the simulation model for plant retrofit, then an Economic study was performed to ensure rapid return of investment and to compare the retrofits alternatives determining the best technology to be used |
