Abstract

The improvement of hand function in hemiparetic children is a primary of most therapeutic interventions. This study was conducted to investigate sensory integration technique versus traditional occupational therapy on hand function in spastic hemiparetic cerebral palsy children. Thirty hemiparetic cerebral palsy children of both sexes were participated in this study, their age ranged from two to four years. They were divided randomly and equally into two groups: group A and group B. group A received traditional occupational therapy while group B received sensory integration technique. The hand functions including grasping and visual motor integration were assessed by using Peabody developmental motor scale (PDMS - 2) for children in both groups before and after three successive months of the application of the suggested treatment program. There was high significant improvement in both measurement variables in group B, while for group A there was significant improvement in grasping and non significant difference in visual motor integration. from the results of this work we can concluded that sensory integration technique may result in positive outcomes better than traditional occupational therapy in improving hand function in hemiparetic children
