Abstract The scope of the thesis is the synthesis, optimization and characterization of non-doped, C-N co-doped and C-N-S co-doped anatase/brookite heterojunction TiO₂ catalysts. The photocatalytic activity of the prepared samples was evaluated by the decomposition of Hazardous Ibuprofen (HIBF) in aqueous solution. The photocatalytic decomposition was tested using UV{u2013}Visible spectrophotometer and mineralization was examined by measuring the Total Organic Carbon (TOC). The resulting data revealed that the complete decomposition and mineralization of HIBF in aqueous solution under UV and visible light, was achieved in the presence of calcined in-situ doped titania catalyst (III-400). This sample exhibited the highest initial decomposition rate of HIBF under UV (409.7 x 10⁻²oM min⁻¹) and visible light (213 x 10⁻² oM min-1) |
