Abstract

Further-more, in neonates and infants with increased sensitivity to
narcotics (e.g., premature birth or sleep apnea), intravenous opiates may cause
hypopnea and apnea which may lead to the need for re-intubation and prolonged
mechanical ventilation(2,3). In addition to postoperative nausea and vomiting and
sedation.
A multi-modal approach towards pain management is therefore critical to
ensure optimal analgesia in this group of patients. Although abdominal laparoscopic
surgery is known for less pain compared with that of laparotomy(4,5), many patients
still complain of considerable postoperative pain(6).
Pain after laparoscopic surgeries is caused by the incision and visceroperitoneal
pain due to peritoneal stretch and inflammation(6).Some authors believe that the visceral pain that occurs with tissue trauma
during the resection is the most predominant component
