Abstract The fabrication of a simple, reliable, efficient and low-cost electrochemical sensor for the direct determination of an approved drug, Fav, for the treatment of COVID-19 was successful. The fabrication of the electrode is achieved using a one-step approach. The technical merits of the sensor are verified for the determination of Fav in human blood-serum and commercially available tablets. Excellent LODs and LOQs are achieved and the electrode shows good stability and repeatability. The electrode shows good applicability for the determination of Fav in presence of possible contaminations from other drugs possibly used as ad-on to patients infected with the virus and currently under treatment with Fav or with other medications such as those treated with angiotensinconverting enzyme inhibitors and angiotensin receptor blockers. |
