Abstract This work was conducted in three governmental hospitals at Menoufia governorate (Menoufia University Hospital, Zawyet Elnaora fever hospital and ElShohadaa central hospital) and it included 376 HCWs. All participants were subjected to a predesigned questionnaire that involved demographic, occupational data, and questions related to COVID-19 pandemic. Work-related stress was assessed among the studied participants using the Arabic validated Beverly Potter questionnaire. This questionnaire is composed of twelve sections of questions to assess causes of stress related to workplace including powerlessness, no information, conflict, poor team work, overload, boredom, poor feedback, punishment, alienation, ambiguity, unrewarding ,and values conflict. Each of which is represented by four questions in this questionnaire. If the total score was equal or more than 97, the participant was considered to have work-related stress. Among the studied participants, burnout was assessed using the Arabic version of Maslach Burnout Inventory Human Services Survey for Medical Personnel (MBI-HSS). This survey consists of 22 questions for evaluation of the three dimensions of burnout syndrome: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and personal accomplishment. The participant was considered to be burnt-out, if he had a triad of high emotional exhaustion, high depersonalization and low personal accomplishment. Cognitive executive functioning was examined using the neuropsychological Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (The 64 card version). The participant was shown a variety of stimulus cards. The participant was instructed to match the cards but not how to do so; however, they were informed whether a particular match is correct or incorrect. Because of facility of application and calculation of total errors, it was used as a reliable item for the present study. |
