Abstract This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of using a suggested strategy based on the storytelling approach in developing critical reading skills for secondary school students .Participants of this study consisted of sixty female first year secondary stage, who randomly chosen from Hamza Ibn Abd El Motaleb secondary school during the first term of the 2021-2022 academic year. The study employed the quasi-experimental design in which two groups were divided into an experimental group (n=30) and a control group (n=30).Instruments of the study were comprised of a critical reading skills checklist and a pre-post critical reading skills test. Results revealed the effectiveness of using the storytelling- based strategy in developing critical reading skills among the study participants. |
