Abstract To investigate the efficacy of insert application on cuspal deflection and microleakage of mesio-occluso - distal (MOD) cavities of bicuspids restored incrementally with resin composite restoration. Ninety sound maxillary premolars had standardized MOD cavities prepared. Restoration of the teeth involved the placement of RBC Filtek TM Z250 XT in two increments with the appropriate bonding system without insert (group A). group B and C were restored with insert application (everstick post, relyx fiber post). Buccal and palatal cusp deflections were recorded post-irradiation and after thermocycling / cyclic loading using universal measuring microscope. Following restoration, the teeth thermocycled and cyclic loaded, immersed in 2% methylene blue dye for 24h, sectioned and examined for microleakage |
