Abstract The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of different surface treatments (sandblasting and silica coating) of translucent zirconia, with and without veneering, on the surface roughness and color changes values. A total of 30 translucent zirconia core were constructed in this study, using a specially designed mold. Samples were divided into 3 groups according to the surface treatment and received into: group 1: No treatment (control) (N = 10) group 2: Sandblasting of zirconia core (N = 10) group 3: Silica coting of zirconia core (N = 10) - Half of the sample of each group were veneered with it corresponding veneering material (N = 5) Two cupper molds were constructed; the first mold had a circular depression of 10 mm and 0.8 mm thickness, which was used for construction of 30 core samples. The second mold had a circular depression of 10 mm and 1.5 mm thickness and was used for veneering the core samples one additional sample from each group were subjected to surface roughness measurements by a profilometer and scanned by SEM to observe and evaluate the surface topographic patterns. Discs were glazed by using glaze paste. Autoglazed firing cycle was carried under vacuum furnace. The finished samples were then ready for color measurements color will be measured using spectrophotometer. Data will be collected and statistically analyzed |
