Abstract Purpose: To compare the thickness of the LASIK flap created by the mechanical microkeratome Moria M2, and that created with femtosecond laser FS150, using anterior segment OCT (Optovue, RTVue). Design: prospective comparative study. Methods: Flaps were created using the Femtosecond laser Intralase FS150 (intended flap 100æm) in 20 eyes, in the other 20 eyes the flaps were created using mechanical microkeratome Moria M2 90. Flap thickness was measured using ASOCT. Results: In the Moria M2 created flaps, the mean central flap thickness, the mean flap thickness 2mm nasal to the center, 2mm temporal to the center, the mean flap thickness were 126 .38æm±3.95(120-133), 132.6æm±4.6(123-136), 133.4æm±4.4(124-139), 130.79æm±4(122.6-137) respectively, in the Femtosecond created flaps the mean central flap thickness, the mean flap thickness 2mm nasal to the center, 2mm temporal to the center, the mean flap thickness were 101æm±1.2(100-104), 105.27æm±2.7(101-109), 104.56æm±1.98(101-107), 103.63æm±1.77(101-106) respectively. the deviation from intended flap thickness was 20.79±4(12.66-27) in the Moria M2 group, and 3.6±1.7(1-6) in the Intralase group |
