Abstract

Proper allocation of distributed generation (DG) units connected to the distribution systems has different affirmative effects such as increasing the reliability of the network, decreasing losses, improving voltage profile, decreasing the cost of transmission and distribution energy and improving the power quality. The objective of this thesis is to determine the optimal allocation and size of DGs in radial distribution systems. Providing the optimal allocation, the enhancement of voltage profile at minimum power losses is achieved using different optimization techniques. These optimization algorithms are based on analytical and artificial Intelligent (AI) techniques. from the analytical techniques, the grid search, the golden section and the analytical approach are introduced. Genetic algorithm (GA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) techniques from the artificial Intelligent are presented
