Abstract The notion of minimum invasive dentistry (MID), a conservative philosophy that particularly focus on early carefully diagnosis of initial carious lesions , remineralization of the tooth surfaces and preservation of surrounding tooth structures , is currently gradually changing the paradigm of modern dental treatment. The dynamic equilibrium between pathogenic factors that led to demineralization and protective factors that led to remineralization controls the course of dental caries. Nonsurgical therapy of early carious lesions is being encouraged by the growing concentration on preventative and the minimal intervention dentistry as well as shown higher prevalence of non-cavitated caries in comparison to cavitated tooth surfaces. For in vitro remineralization therapy, some natural (herbal) substances have been investigated, such as chicken egg shell powder (CESP), propolis powder and grape seed extract powder (GSEP). |
