Abstract Sepsis is a life-threatening condition. It is a syndrome of pathological, physiological, and biochemical abnormalities caused by dysregulated immune response to infection, causing organ damage. Sepsis consists of a large public health concern. The reported incidence of sepsis is increasing, due to the populations aging and increase comorbidities and its recognition. The latest study from Global Burden of Diseases (GBD) 2017 is the first worldwide report of sepsis around 49 million cases and 11 million deaths which was double that of previous reports. Sepsis is still sharing to almost 20% of total deaths yearly and more than 20 deaths every minute globally. |
