Abstract

Autonomy is essential to create participative work environments. Autonomy is important to enable staff nurses to participate in decision-making and develop nursing through shared leadership to enhance requirement and retention of a skilled workforce and reducing burnout and dissatisfaction and increase organizational commitment among staff nurses. Organizational commitment has an impact on the staff nurses’ likelihood to remain at the hospital and enhance the quality of the organization’s performance (Pursio et al., 2021).
This study aimed to assess the effect of autonomy educational program on staff nurses’ organizational commitment through: Assessing staff nurses’ knowledge toward autonomy through program. Assessing staff nurses’ practice toward autonomy through program. Assessing organizational commitment as perceived by staff nurses through program. Designing and implementing an educational program about autonomy for staff nurses. Investigating the effect of educational program about autonomy on staff nurses’ knowledge, practice, and organizational commitment.
This hypothesized that implementation of educational program about autonomy for staff nurses will improve staff nurses knowledge and practice regarding autonomy and there will be positively effect of autonomy on the staff nurses’ organizational commitment.
