Abstract A heat exchanger is a device used to transfer thermal energy between two or more fluids at different temperatures. Heat exchangers find widespread use in power generation, chemical processing, and refrigeration applications. This technical report explains heat exchangers, covering such topics as classification, thermal design methods, and various parameters to improve heat exchangers’ heat transfer. The effect on the overall heat transfer and pressure DROP for a series array of shell and tube heat exchangers after changing different parameters such as baffle spacing and cutting, tube length, tube pattern, tube diameter, tube passes, and fouling factor. |
