المستخلص The research aimed at identifying the challenges of teaching science for 4th grade of primary school and developing a proposed vision for addressing those challenges as well as assessing its impact on the teaching performance of science teachers. The analytical descriptive research design was adopted to achieve the target aims. Research instruments included: a questionnaire for determining the challenges of teaching science for 4th grade of primary stage, an open interview with the 4th grade primary pupils for identifying the challenges they face in studying science, and an observation checklist for assessing the teaching performance of the 4th grade primary science teachers. Participants were (200) 4th grade of primary pupils and (20) teachers from (20) schools at West Mansoura administration, Dakahlia governorate. Results revealed that: 1- Science teachers’ recognition of the challenges that hinder science teaching reaches the adequacy level at 65%. 2- The 4th grade of primary pupils’ recognition of their challenges in learning science reaches the adequacy level at 65%. 3- There is statistically significant differences at an indicative level (α = 0.01) between the mean ranks of the 4th grade primary science teachers in the pre- post administrations of the observation checklist in the favor of the post administration. 4- There is no significant correlation at (α ≤ 0.05) between primary science teachers’ recognition of the challenges and their teaching performance. Based on these results, a number of recommendations and suggestions were provided. |
