Abstract e COVID-19 pandemic posed a risk to people’s health in general including mental health. People used social media platforms more often than usual as a result of the coronavirus disease’s fast spread and quarantine restrictions. People’s mental health is impacted by the incorrect and excessive use of social media, which raises levels of desperation and anxiety. This study aimed to measure the association between the presence of anxiety and depression in Ain Shams University staff and social media use during the COVID-19 pandemic. Data were collected through a 6-month cross-sectional analytical study among 405 staff members at Ain Shams University from 1 September 2021 to 31 March 2022. According to the study findings, there were 114 total employees, and (56.2%) of them were between the ages of 31 and 50. Male and female numbers were roughly equal, with males making up (50.1%) and females (49.9%), respectively. The majority of the participants (77.0%) had a university degree, more than two-thirds (68.9%) were married, more than one-third (35.6%) had a chronic illness. More than onethird (38.1%) of the participants already suffered from COVID19 disease and more than three-quarters (77.5%) of the participants knew someone who had been diagnosed with COVID-19. T |
