Abstract This research aimed at investigating using intelligent tutoring system in teaching English vocabulary and reading skills of third grade primary stage pupils and its effect on their self-autonomy. The participants of the research included (60) third grade primary pupils from El-Dawa primary schools, Beni-Suef. The participants randomly assigned to form two groups; one to be a treatment group (30) and the other to be a non- treatment group (30). The quasi-experimental design was used in the study. Data were collected using three instruments prepared by the researcher: a vocabulary test, reading test and a self-autonomy scale. Findings showed that the participants of the treatment group outperformed those of the control group in learning vocabulary, reading skills and self-autonomy, indicating a significant effect of the strategy in this regard. The research results also showed that there was a change in the participants’ learning vocabulary, reading skills and their self- autonomy.
