Abstract

The current study aimed to determine the impact of CD-36 rs1761667 and rs1527483 on the risk of breast cancer (BC), as well as the relationship between these variants and miRNA-375 and miRNA-155 expression levels as potential biomarkers for BC.Genotyping was assessed using qPCR and the serum profile of CD-36 was measured by ELISA.Quantitative estimation of miRNA-375 and miRNA-155 expression by reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR).Results showed that the A allele of rs1761667 was associated with increased BC riskand the CD-36 rs1761667-rs1527483 AG and AA haplotypes potentiate BC risk. Serum CD-36 was elevated in metastatic BC patients, moreover, miRNA-155 and miRNA-375 were shown to be upregulated in BC. This study demonstrates that miRNA-375,miRNA-155and CD-36 could be used as non-invasive prognostic biomarkers or as potential therapeutic targets of BC.
