Abstract Cervical cancer continues to be a major public health problem worldwide.Several screening modalities are now available for early detection of cervical cancer and its precursor lesions. They all differ with regard to their test characteristic, feasibility and economic considerations. For over 50 years, biopsy and histopathological examination is considered the gold standard in diagnosing cervical cancer. However, cytology-based screening is effective, but beyond the capacity of health services in developing countries. |
