Abstract PCOS is a common endocrine disorder in reproductive-aged women that is associated with anovulatory infertility, obesity, dyslipidemia and insulin resistance. There is an association between autoimmune thyroiditis and PCOS as thyroid disorders are also associated with insulin resistance. Asprosin an adipokine, is induced by fasting and targets the liver, promoting hepatic glucose release. Asprosin is a centrally acting orexigenic hormone leads to appetite stimulation and drives to accumulate adiposity and body weight. Moreover, asprosin hormone level was found to be changed with insulin resistance. Metformin has been shown to be an effective treatment for ovulation induction through improvement in the metabolic profile of women with PCOS. Aerobic exercise training may decrease asprosin levels through changing the dynamics of glucose and its metabolism in the liver. |
