Abstract Legionella pneumophila infection has been recognized as an important cause of pneumonia. However, epidemiologic baseline data about the occurrence of legionella - related pneumonia and the distribution of legionella in aquatic environments are still not available in Egypt. So, our study were carried out for detection of Legionella pneumophila in 140 water specimens, 40 Swab & 12patient sputa, evaluation of these methods used for such detection, and determination the most sensitive and specific method and finally evaluate the methods used for controlling this organism. |
