Abstract The present thesis is a study on the origin of the critical angular momentum in the theory of nuclear reactions between the complex heavy nuclei. The introduction gives classification of nuclear reaction mechanism and a brief description of direct reactions, compound nucleus reactions, and the critical angular momentum. Chapter II contains a review of some of the possible models designed to calculate the critical angular momentum. Using these models, the critical angular momenta are calculated for those nuclear reactions, for which the values of the critical angular momenta have been determined experimentally. |
