Abstract the aim of this work is to set up an electrically - driven shock tube, for the production of high velocity shock waves, determine the charactristics of this shock tube, study of the physical proerties of shock waves produced and the features affecting their production and propagation and to investigate the behaviour of the propagated shock waves and its interaction with axial magnetic field. so a conical electrode system was constructed for the generation of the shovk waves. this system together with a special condenser battery was capable of producing a discharge current of 190 k. a. at 100 k. c., thecurrent quenched after one complete cycle. the characteristics of the system were studied and desribed in this thesis. and the investigation of the discharge current in the sourse showed a self crowbering effect and a factor Φ = i1 -i2/i1 was proposed to determine the crowbaring effeciency, and this factor showed a dependence on the characteristics of the discharge and the initial gas pressure. |
