Abstract This study was done on twenty patients suffering from localized juvenile periodontitis . Five patients were served as control and treated by mechanical cridements only. The other fifteen patients treated by mechanical :IrrCCeSSeS and antibiotics, Five patients received spiramycin (3.000.000 Ip I : y / 15 days) , five patients received spiramycin (3.000.000 lp I daily / 15 ads) & metronidazole (400 mg / daily I 15 days) and five received racycline (1 gm Idaily I 15 days. The concentrations of these antibiotics in serum saliva and gingival evicular fluid was measured at base line, after seven days and after teen days. Clinical paramaters (plaque index , gingival index, pocket depth and ttachement level ) were recorded before and after treatment. Results showed that combination of spiramycin & metronidazole indicated -igh concentration comparied to spiramycin alone in the examined area serum, saliva & gingival crevicular fluid The highest concentration in gingival crevicular fluid was in tetracycline group, (5.9 pg/mI after seven days), concentration after fifteen days was the same level. Serum level at the same time was 2.2 pg/mI at seven days and 2.9 pg/mI after fifteen days. Spiramycin group (group II) and tetracycline group (group IV) improved gnificantly the gingival, plaque indices and pocket depth. Patients treated by combination of spiramycin and metronidazole (group II), showed the best clinical results among other groups. |
