Abstract There of commerial activated carbons in powder and granular forms were used to take up some inorganic pollutants from industrial activities. Granular activated carbons were sieved and the fraction of patical size between 3.35-1.4 mm was used for the uptake processes. The porous texture of carbons were characterized by physical adsorption of nitrogen at 77 0 K and methylene blue adsorption from aqueous solution at 298 0 K. The apparent surface area of each carbon sample was obtained from the nitrogen adsorption isotherm by applying the BET method. It was found that a considerable fraction of surface area, for all the carbon samples, is located in the mesoporous range. |
