Abstract The present study was carried out at ELGimmizah Poultry Research Farm from July to December 2004. A total number of 315 hens and 42 cocks at 24 weeks of age from Gimmizah chickens was used in the present study. Birds were randomly divided into 7 homogenized groups and allocated in floor pens. Birds were injected in thigh muscle with eltroxin, carbimazol and potassium iodide with 1 or 1.5 mg / kg body weight or distilled water 1 mg / kg body weigh as control. Injection was then repeated at 4 weeks intervals till the end of the experimental period (48 weeks of age). Results : Injection birds with 1 mg / kg body weight carbimazol significantly increased body weight, feed consumption, egg number, egg weight and rate of egg production compared with the other treatments. Also enhance feed conversion, egg mass, fertility, hatchability % and chicks weight at hatch. No significant differences in WBCs count and PCV % and Biochemical parameter. It can be recommended to apply the injection of 1 mg carbimazol / kg body weight which had pronounced effects on the studied traits. |
