Abstract The aim of the present study is to determine the ’role of bilharzial affection on pulmonary functions in reases with chronic obstructive airway diseases and to zee the reversibility if any, antibilharzial or duiret ic drugs The material of the present study comprised 67 bases which were categoraized into: Control group: included 10 cases with history an clinical finding suggestive of COAD with no history of exposure to bilharziasis. group of active bilharziasis: included 42 cases of COAD and stool positive bilharziasis with different system affedtion, 10 cases showed active intestinal bilharziasis, 23 cases with active hepatosplen:Lc bilharliasis and 9 cases with active bilharzial cor pul.monale. Group-with treated bilharziasis comprising: 15 cases of COAD and stool negative for bilharzial ova, 5 cases with cor pulmonale and 10 cases with hepatosp- lenic bilharziasis. All cases had been subjected to thorough history claking clinical examination and investigations comprised. |
