Abstract The present thesis was introduced, aiming, at studying some enzymatic and hormonal changes during pregnancy and evaluating some of the commonly used placental function tests and their possible application as routine procedures in our locality to monitor the integrity of the foeto piacexLtal unit. The material comprised 95 ladies who were classified into : I- The group of non-pregnant females (35cases) : Comprising ten healthy, ten hypertensive and fifteen diabetic ladies of matched age, body weight and socio economic status as the pregnant cases. II- The group of normal pregnancy (25 cases) III- The group of complicated pregnancy (35 cases) 1) Hyportensive disorders (20 cases) divided into : a- Toxaemic cases (11 mild and 3 severe) b- Essential hypertension with pregnancy (5 cases, 3 of them developed toxaemia in later pregnancy). 2) Diabetes mellitus with pregnancy (15 oases) Of these, nine belonged to white’s class A and six to B,All cases were subjected to thorough medical. |
