Abstract This work was carried out on three groups of newly born albino rats (A,B and C). Each group comprised thirty five animals and all animals were left with their mothers. Animals of group A were used as a control group. Animals of groups Band C were given cadmium chloride daily from the first day of postnatal life by intragastric intubation. Cadmium was dissolved in water and given to animals of group Band C in a dose 1/10 and 1/5 LD per kilogram body 50 weight per day respectively. from each group, five animals were examined in the following ages, one week, two weeks, three weeks, four weeks, eight weeks, three months and one year. In addition five newborn rats were examined among the control group. Each animal had been weighed before it was sacrified and both kidneys were dissected carefully, weighed separately and prepared for histological and histochemical studies. |
