Abstract In the present study, we investigated 82 patients fulfilling the criteria of [IUD. They were selected out of 268 patients with dyspeptic symptoms iing the outpatient clinic. They were 48 females and 34 males, with age 19-57 years old. They were subjected to full history taking with cial stress on analysis of dyspeptic symptoms and on the basis of the dominant symptoms, they were assigned into one of four categories: fdysmotility-like, reflux-like, ulcer-like, and unspecified dyspepsia. General local abdominal examination were done to exclude any manifest systemic jfease. Esophago-gastro-duodenoscopy (EGD) was the initial investigation done for all cases to select cases of NUD who were subjected to subsequent investigations including: Stool examination for gastrointestinal parasites and Wieraical investigations to exclude metabolic diseases, Psychiatric assessment, abdominal ultrasonography, barium upper gastrointestinal series. All cases with NUD were subjected to Esophageal manometry and ilectrogastrography (EGG). We investigated only 28 cases of NUD for Helicobacter pylori using antral mucosal biopsy and culture. Ik present study revealed that: •NUD was present in 30.6 % of patients with dyspepsia and 84.4 % were in age group between 19-57 years old and 58.5 % were females. |
