Abstract SUMMARY A prospective study was performed on 25 patients with fractures. The patients were divided into two groups by selection of number. In the first group wounds were immediately, while in the second group, wounds were for delayed primary closure on 4th to 6th day after All the patients recieved a course 7 day of I-V. of cefobid. From each patient, three cultures was taken, first was swab before any surgical interference or administration. Second culture was from debrided Third culture was swab prior to closure. The three were examined for isolation of contaminating and sensitivity testing. A fourth culture was taken only from patients that showed clinical signs of infection. The contamination rate was as high as 92%. This rate particulary high in type Ill. The incidence of clinical infection was 24b%.50% of infected cases showed Gm.ve bacilli as responible organisms for clinical infection . The infection rate was 21 % in type I , 30 % in type II and 33.3% in type III, 66 in IIib. |
