Abstract The venous ulcer of the lowe~ a solution of the continuity of the skin caused by an abnormality of the veins draining the limb. V aricose Ulc~vitational ulcer, stasis ulcer and hypostatic ulcer have been used in the past as ulternative name for venous ulcer. Venous ulcer has large effect on the patient because the patient daily life may come to revolve around the ulcer. An inability to stayat work because of frequent visits to doctor or hospital may inflict a considerable economic burden on the patient. The cost of drugs, dressings and elastic stockings is an additional financial burden. To try to understand chronic venous insufficiency one must considered the changes which occur both in the larger vein (Macrocirculation) and capillary bed (Microcirculation) (Bees and Red Wood, 1998 ).
