Abstract The repair of groin hernias constitutes the most widely performed general surgical procedure throughout the world.• Residual postherniorrhaphy pain represent the most vexing complication of the inguinal region, the absence of convincing objective test and the subjective nature of the complaints don’t favor an easy resolution of the problem. Our study proved that there was difference in postoperative pain between the conventional open repairs. These repairs must be compared with laparoscopic herniorrhaphy. The aetiology of postherniorrhaphy pain syndrome must be evaluated. The relation between the surgical technique and the aetiology of postherniorrhaphy pain syndrome must be studied. The postoperative pain should be assessed in a subjective manner, this allows more accurate evaluation and may help in the solution of the problem. |
