Abstract Keratoconus represents one of the visual problems facing the practitioner in which contact lenses remain the primary means of management, so many lens designs have been developed over the years to fit such patients with efficient and comfortable system. Rose KTM lens is one of special RGP design that recently used for. keratoconus patients. The present study was carried out to assess safety and efficacy of Rose KTM lens in keratoconics. This study was carried out on 133 eyes of 70 keratoconic patients (30 males and 40 females) with ages ranged from 11 - 38 years. All keratoconus patients were subjected to history taking, full ophthalmlogical examination and specific ’ investigations; including corneal topography ,keratometry ,pachymetry and contrast sensitivity. The studied eyes were classified according to the mean K value into three groups (mild, moderate and severe). The second and third groups were further subdivided according to the shape of the cone.( nipple, oval, globus and atypical cones). Step by step fitting of Rose KTM was carried and the lens was prescribed regarding base curve, diameter, power and edge lift. |
