Abstract Dynamic helical CT of the breast has been found to be a new promising tool in the diagnosis of different breast masses. This thesis included the mammographic, Sonographic, dynamic helical CT studies and few MRI examination of breast masses. The practical work included 45 patients presented with suspected breast masses who underwent breast helical CT examination before and after 1,3 and 8 minutes after a bolus of intravenous contrast medium. The CT examination was preceded by clinical evaluation of the cases as well as mammographic and sonographic examination of all cases and MRI examination was performed for 5 cases. The results obtained by mammography, ultrasound as well as dynamic CT examination of the breast were compared to the histopathological results and the value of dynamic helical CT of the breast was assessed. The result of this study showed the value of helical CT in diagnosis of benign and malignant breast masses. Considering carcinoma and fibroadenoma, significant differences were found for percent enhancement at 8 minutes. Benign masses showed continuous increase in enhancement while malignant masses showed decrease in enhancement. |
