Abstract The aim of this study was to evaluate the local hemostatic effect of the resorbable gelatin sponge soaked in 5 % tranexamic acid in anticoagulant-treated pateints undergoing dental extraction without dose modification of oral anticoagulants A prospective case-control study was also performed in order to verify the incidence of bleeding complications after dental extraction in a group of anticoagulated patients in companson with normal subjects PATIENTS AND METHODS This study induded 120 patients representing two groups control group (G I) and test group (G II) G I composed of 60 normal and non anticoagulated patients They were represented by the consecutive subjects off warfann who required dental extractions Patients with known liver disease or were taking drugs likely to affect liver function, have any effect either directly or indirectly in hemostasis were excluded from the study G II comprised 60 patients on oral anticoagulant therapy (warfann) who required dental extractions They were referred from the Cardiothoracic Surgery Departement, Faculty of Medicine, Mansoura University to the |
