المستخلص Cigarette smoking is one of the most common health problems in both the Arab and the Foreign societies. Smoking as a phenomenon can be the result of the growing rate of stress in this age. It can lead to smoker’s weak will and low self-efficacy. is considered a means to cope with different emotions such as anger. The present study attempts to investigate the impact of cigarette smoking on some psychological variables ( anger , self efficacy , psychological stress ) . It also tries to explore the effectiveness of a counseling programme in reducing the intensity of some smokers’ anger . The psychometric procedures in this study involved a research sample which included ( 110 ) smokers, and ( 110 ) non-smokers, between 30-50 years of age. The programme was administered to ( 8 ) male cigarette smokers. The tools: (a) The anger scale. (b) The self-efficacy scale. (c) The psychological stress scale. (d) A cognitive behavioral programme . The results: 1-There is a significant difference between the mean scores of the smokers versus the non-smokers in terms of the intensity of their anger and psychological stress in favour of smokers . 2-There is a significant difference between the mean scores of the smokers versus the non-smokers in terms of their self-efficacy in favour of non-smokers .. 3- There is a statistically significant difference in terms of the smokers’ anger and self-efficacy and psychological stress before versus after implementing the programme 4- There is a no statistically significant difference in terms the anger and self-efficacy and of the examinee cigarette smokers’ after implementing the cognitive behavioral counseling programme versus during the follow up. 5- there is no statistically significant difference in terms of the smokers’ psychological stress before versus after implementing the programme. |
