Abstract Two experiments were conducted at Sakha Agric. Res. Station during two successive winter seasons (1997/1998) and (1998/1999) to study the effect of different salinity levels and additions of proline acid. The obtained results could be summarized as follows: 1.?Proline content: ?Increasing salinity level of irrigation water in both seasons led to appreciable increase in proline content in gain and straw. Soaking with foliar treatment gave the highest values in proline. 2.?Protein: ?Protein content in grain and straw were highly decreased in both two season as water salinity increased. ?Finally it can be concluded that manipulation of wheat with amino acid proline using (soaking and/or foliar application increased the salt tolerance of wheat plant especially the treatment of soaking and foliar application. 3.?Osmotic pressure: ?Increasing salinity level of irrigation water increased the osmotic pressure in both season. The addition of amino acid to plant noticeably increased the osmotic pressure content and treatment of soaking with foliar application was more effective in both seasons. |
