Abstract

Normal 40 male guinea pigs weighting 1 Kg each were used in this study. They were classified into two equal groups, each comprising 20 animals. Group I: for Demineralized Freeze Dried Bone (DFDB). Group II: for Bioactive glass. Each group was subdivided into four equal subgroups each comprising 5 animals according to the predetermined times, for animal sacrifice: Subgroup A, the animals were sacrificed after 1 week. Subgroup B, the animals were sacrificed after 4 weeks. Subgroup C, the animals were sacrificed after 8 weeks. Subgroup D, the animals were sacrificed after 12 weeks. Evaluation: Radiographic evaluation. Histological evaluation. Bone Densitometry evaluation. Conclusion: 1 DFDB and BG have excellent osteoconductive effects on alveolar bone healing. 2Results of BG were nearly similar to DFDB, BG less expensive, available, and easy to mix and prepare. This makes the graft a good choice when large bony defects are present.
