Abstract

The aim of the research: this study aimed to throw the light on relation to consumption of different types of soft drinks on general health status which determined by the effects on body weight gain, FER, food intake , some serum lipid patterns, some minerals (ca, ca ++, & p) some hormone (parathyroid & estrogen) and renal and liver function parameters, and also estimation of blood free radical, and blood picture. The research Results:The rats consumed soft drink showed less a ctivity, redness of eyes and loss of weight. The most lowering in weight gain was noticed in rats consumed colorless and mixed carbonated beverage and low calorie non carbonated soft drink. Analysis of serum revealed significant increase in cholesterol, triglyceride, LDL­c ; VLDL­c ; total lipids and phospholipids in carbonated and non carbonated soft drink­consumed rats. Serum HDL­c values were significantly decreased and atherogenic indices were significantly increased in all treated groups. Serum ALT and AST increased significantly in rats consumed mixed carbonated beverage. Total protein decreased significantly in dark and orange carbonated and colorless non carbonated rats. Serum urea significantly decreased in dark carbonated and also in dark, orange, and beerly non carbonated soft drink­consumed rats . Uric acid increased significantly in all rats groups. Parathyroid hormone increased significantly in all rats consumed carbonated soft drink and in dark and orange of non carbonated treated rats. Estrogen level decreased significantly in all treated rats groups except colorless, and low calorie non carbonated rats groups. Phosphorus value increased significantly in all treated rats. The free radical values increased significantly in all rats groups. The hemoglobin value decreased significantly in orange and colorless carbonated and dark non carbonated soft drink­consumed rats. Packed cell volume value was significantly decreased in dark orange and colorless carbonated beverage. Red blood cells count increased significantly in colorless carbonated beverage. The total leukocyte count decreased significantly in all rats.
